Today marks Vivien's 100th day of life! This has been a huge milestone that proves she's a fighter and continues to beat the odds. As of today, she weighs 7 pounds, 5 ounces, continues to thrive, and is cuter than ever.
When I took her to her cardiologist appointment on Monday, Dr. Allen (who has been a great advocate for Vivien) said she'd be presenting Vivien's case on Tuesday night before the team of cardiac surgeons and cardiologists at Seattle Children's. While we've been looking forward to this, we have known kids across the country who have been denied cardiac repair because of the "lethal" diagnosis alone. We spent the day in prayer and asking many of our friends to pray.
I was in tears when Dr. Allen called me Tuesday night to say that the whole team agreed that because she has been doing so well, she'd be a great candidate for surgery. Later in the week we received a call from Seattle Children's saying they have her scheduled for January 28th! Wow - this is so much sooner than we had expected! Though ideally, they'd like her to reach 11 pounds, they feel it would be better to do it sooner than later. Until then, we'll continue to keep her healthy, strong and ready for surgery.
Another blessing has been having specialists come to our house to do both Physical Therapy and Feeding Therapy with Vivien. Doing PT with her several times a day has been a highlight for us. Though she's not yet ready for push-ups, she seems to be getting stronger everyday...:)
Thank you to all of our family and friends who have supported us in so many ways. It would be so much more difficult without you! As Christmas approaches, we have so many reasons to give thanks. If God has taught us anything through Vivien's life it has been the reminder of how fragile and beautiful the gift of life really is.
