My friend Celeste Gracey interviewed me for Christianity Today's Women's blog. So grateful that Jesus is using Vivien's story to show his love for ALL life and for special needs kids. Be sure to read all three pages and feel free to share it with others!

I read the piece about your family and Vivian on Christianity Today and just wanted to let you know that you are in my prayers.
I found out during a 20-week ultrasound that our baby had a very rare birth defect called agenesis corpus collosum. Essentially she is missing a significant part of her brain. We were told that she could be severely mentally retarded or that she could have minor cognitive delays. There was no way for them to determine the extent of her disability before she was born.
We were given the option to abort, but we're Christians so that wasn't an option we could consider. The next four months were a blur of prayer and worry.
She was born on her due date and scored a 9 on her Apgar test. Now, she's a happy, healthy 4-year-old with no signs there is anything wrong or different about her other than some mild sensory issues.
We were told she would likely have trouble walking and might never talk, but she runs all over the place barefoot and talks constantly to her siblings. We were told she might never be able to make friends b/c of the social problems children with her condition often have, but she has a best buddy next door and makes friends easily at preschool.
I just wanted to share this with you to give you hope and to encourage you that you have made the right decision in continuing your pregnancy and endeavoring to enjoy every moment with your precious daughter. I have a dear friend who terminated a pregnancy b/c the baby had a condition that was not compatible with life called Potters Syndrome. She has deeply regretted it and says that if she could go back in time she would have carried the baby to term, even though he would have died within a few hours.
May God bless you and your family during these next weeks and months.
Lisa
